Founded in 1972, the William & Mary Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has served as the primary academic and social hub for computer science students for over 50 years. Our goal is to foster a community of passion and innovation, helping students learn new technologies, build exciting projects, and prepare for their future careers.
Workshops
Once a month, we host a student-led workshop covering a wide range of topics, from introductory app development and python scripting to neural networks and software optimization. These sessions are designed to give you hands-on experience outside the classroom.
Speakers
We invite industry professionals, alumni, and professors to give tech talks. These events provide insight into the software industry, research opportunities, and career advice, connecting you directly with experts in the field.
Collaborations
We partner with other student organizations, such as Robotics, TribeCyber, and the Game Design Club, to host joint technical sessions and collaborative projects. This gives members the chance to explore different areas of computing and learn from peers in related disciplines.
Social
It's not all code! Come hang out with us for trivia, picnics, and bonfire nights. It's the perfect time to relax, make friends, and connect with the community on campus.
Special Events
Throughout the semester, we run bigger, one-off events like the CS brunch, banquet, formal, and World of Tech fair. These are designed to be high-energy, beginner-friendly, and a great way to make connections with professors and other students.
